If disciples are preoccupied with boats, houses, and stock markets on the earth, how do we know they will not preoccupied with streets of gold and jeweled crowns in heaven – if those disciples are in heaven at all?
Put another way, there is more – always more – to holiness than that which we already possess. For it is faith, and not heaven, that is the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen. We should not, then, be comfortable on earth with any love for Jesus other than that which will seem ordinary in heaven. For holiness is the love of Jesus.”
